Midwives Associations

ICM has grown from a small group of Midwives Associations in Western Europe to a major Confederation with more than 116 autonomous associations from countries all over the world. By strengthening member associations, ICM advances the profession of midwifery globally promoting autonomous midwives as the most appropriate caregivers for childbearing women.

Philippine League of Government and Private Midwives,Inc.

PLGPMI was launched through the General Assembly of Midwives in April 1999. In its vision statement, the PLGPMI declares to be “a well-organized and recognized institution committed to and responsive for the upliftment of midwives to become effective and efficient health care professionals for the Filipinos.” 

Through the years the PLGPMI has institutionalized local chapters in all major provinces and cities in the Philippines. There are currently a total of 16 regional offices and 79 provincial chapters spread throughout the archipelago. It has even established a chapter in Hong Kong, China which is called the League of Overseas Filipino Midwives – Hong Kong.
