The Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage Initiative (POPPHI)

The Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage Initiative (POPPHI): a USAID-funded five-year project focusing on the reduction of postpartum haemorrhage, the single most important cause of maternal deaths worldwide.

In December 2009 the project came to an end, after five years of joint activities with FIGO to reduce postpartum haemorrhage in low-resource countries.

During its final year, the project facilitated workshops in Benin and Ghana on the active management of the third stage of labour (AMTSL).
